A New Visualization Technique for Intracranial Pressure Pulse Morphology

The author presents a new intracranial pressure (ICP) pulse morphology visualization technique that provides insight into the functional relationship between morphology and a signal metric. In signals tested for this paper, the technique performed well and provided an accurate qualitative description of the relationship between morphology and the signal metrics of mean ICP (ICPM ), heart rate, and time. Considering that ICP pulse morphology may contain useful information beyond that revealed by ICPM , this technique offers valuable insight for those studying ICP management in traumatic brain injury (TBI).
